The Coastal Town of Essaouira
About two and a half hours from Marrakech, Essaouira trades the desert heat for Atlantic sea breeze. Its whitewashed, blue-shuttered medina is a UNESCO World Heritage site, its port still runs on real fishing boats, and the whole town moves at a noticeably slower pace than Marrakech.
It works well as a full-day trip from Marrakech, or as its own relaxed stop on a longer itinerary — I can arrange either.
